With the former Liverpool legends leaving, the question is who can replace the 42-year-old at Villa Park?

Mauricio Pochettino has been unemployed since being sacked by PSG. The Argentine has had an impressive spell at Tottenham and looks a strong contender for the position.

Unai Emery's tenure at Arsenal did not end well. He will have a chance at redemption if Aston Villa decide to follow him after impressing at Villarreal.

Mick Beale previously worked with Gerrard and enjoyed his time at QPR. After being snubbed by Wolves recently, he is unlikely to join Villa.

Thomas Tuchel taking charge of the team is a big statement. The former Chelsea manager is unlikely to agree to turn down coaching offers.

Sean Dyche has been unemployed since leaving Burnley. In the past, he has shown that he can survive even more demanding financial situations.

Thomas Frank's tenure at Brentford was impressive and managed to keep the club in the Premier League. Villa's council may be chasing him in an effort to survive.
