Louisville’s Dalton Rushing, signees Cam Collier
The 2022 Major League Baseball Draft begins at 7 p.m. Sunday and more than a few players with ties to the Louisville Cardinal
Leading the way were two U of L commits, with third baseman Cam Collier becoming the first Cardinals player or prospect to be selected Sunday night.
right-handed pitcher Jacob Miller, as well as rising senior catcher Dalton Rushing, nearly broke the Cardinals' single-season home run record in 2022.
According to prognosticators from The Athletic, Bleacher Report, ESPN and MLB.com, all three players are expected to go off the board within the first 50 picks of the draft.
On the UK side, Gold Glove shortstop Ryan Ritter is ranked No. 169 on MLB.com's top 250 draft picks, meaning he will likely wait until the fourth round.
ESPN and MLB Network will broadcast Day 1 of the draft, which includes the 1st and 2nd rounds, on Sunday night.
