The death of King Viserys in the ninth episode of House of the Dragon invites the coming bloody conflict for the Iron Throne.
Queen Alicent installed her son Aegon as heir to the Iron Throne, citing the king's dying wishes in council.
All allies who opposed Aegon's royal ship were killed.
Aegon was crowned at the end of House of the Dragon episode 9 by withholding the news of the death of his father, King Viserys, from Princess Rhaenyra.
Even though Princess Rhaenyra was chosen by King Viserys as heir to the Iron Throne in the first episode.
Now will Princess Rhaenyra challenge Aegon for the Iron Throne to become Queen of the Seven Kingdoms?
According to the novels George R. R. Martin, Princess Rhaenyra along with her allies invaded King's Landing and took the Iron Throne with Prince Daemon.
Aegon Targaryen managed to escape from King's Landing during the war.
Now that Princess Rhaenyra rules King's Landing with her husband Daemon, Aegon seizes the opportunity to defeat Baela Targaryen and obtain the Dragonstone.
When Rhaenyra went there to retrieve the captured Dragonstone, Aegon captured her and fed it to his dragon.
After killing Rhaenyra, Aegon returned to King's Landing and ruled.
It should be noted that Rhaenyra only sat on the Iron Throne in King's Landing for six months.
The story of Dragon House doesn't just end, the bloody game for the Iron Throne continues, of course with Rhaenyra's son still alive.
