Sesame Place apologizes after character appears to ignore Black girl
Sesame Place, the "Sesame Street" theme park in Philadelphia, has apologized after video showed a costume character ignoring two black children during Saturday's parade.
In the nine-second video shared by the girls' mother on Instagram, her daughters were seen hugging the figure of Rosita.
In the video, Rosita appears to hesitate and continues walking. In the title of the video, the mother called it "disgusting".
"I won't be able to set foot on @sesameplace again!" The mother said that Jodiii left on Instagram.
"And please don't worry about moving. Actually give me my money back." Sesame Place Philadelphia released a statement for the first time on Monday, saying:
"Our brand, our park and our employees stand behind inclusivity and equality in all forms. This is Sesame Place and we do not condone any behavior in our parks.
We are also, and always will be, committed to ensuring that every family and every child has the best possible experience at our parks and we would be even more disappointed if they didn't.
