Texas Secretary of State John Scott, the state's top election official, will step down at the end of the year

On Monday, Scott sent a letter of resignation to the governor. says Greg Abbott 

His last day was Dec. 31, according to a copy obtained by The Dallas Morning News

 Scott said in the letter that he believes he has restored confidence in Texas elections

And for his leadership to make a judicial choice

The audit team let him leave the office with pride

The forensic audit will be published soon, I am writing to inform you of my intention

In Texas, the Secretary of State is appointed by the governor and confirmed by the Texas Senate
