The Mandalorian’s Giancarlo Esposito Breaks Down Evil Mission
Mandolorian star Giancarlo Esposito explains how he saw the "bad" mission of his character Moff Gideon in the Star Wars Disney + series.
During an interview with Steele Wars during Star Wars Celebration 2022, Esposito was asked who thought he was worse: Gideon or his character Gustavo Fring of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul.
"I have to say it was Moff Gideon," Esposito said. "Not in terms of what I've done [worse], but in terms of knowing that when everything goes wrong, using people to get everything back for your own good is wrong."
Esposito continued: "[Gideon] has his own program. He's a warden in part of the galaxy.
Why did he want to gather all the other guards? Why can't he just live quietly in his own little paradise? There had to be a reason he put them all together because he had to have his own program. "
Although Gus Fring and Moff Gideon have much in common, Esposito still explains some important differences between the two characters.
"I don't think Gus is a victim in a way. Even in this sixth season of Better Call Saul, you see his weakness and see him at risk," Esposito explains.
"That's why he's just trying to survive. I think Moff Gideon does more than he survives: he throws baits and exchanges. No?"
